The LeMoyne suite is named after Pierre LeMoyne d’Iberville, the French Canadian who established himself as a soldier and naval commander and was commissioned by French monarchy to locate the mouth of the Mississippi River through the Gulf, coming through Mobile Bay, Cat Island, and Ship Island in 1699.
